Obituary of David Philip Lincoln
Utica-David (Dave) P. Lincoln, 81, of Utica, formerly of Syracuse, New York, passed away on Sunday, July 21, 2024, with his family by his side in the comfort of his home. Born on November 7, 1942, in Syracuse, he was the son of Charles and Margaret Lincoln (Danquer). Stationed at the Naval Station Argentia, Newfoundland, he met his wife of 59 years Carol Tilley. Dave raised his three children on knuckle sandwiches, James Brown, and the blues. A consummate dancer, he and his brother Barney were always ready to cut a rug. He had a passion for cars, coins, and maple walnut ice cream. One of his favorite pastimes was meeting the guys every Tuesday at the Riverside Diner where they talked and ate mushroom stew. Dave never met a stranger. He lived the life of the Good Samaritan. Surviving besides his wife, is his daughter Cheryl Lincoln-Lovely (John), daughter Susan Lincoln (Jon), and son Sean Lincoln. His favorite grandson Elijah Lincoln-Robbins. Many nieces and nephews; Kathy DeRose (Dan), Bob Brown (Terri), Fred Brown, Paul Brown (Missy), Jackie Brown (Jim), Chuck Lincoln (Melanie), Dick Lincoln (Leigh Ann), Theresa Hicks (Lanny), Carol Ann Phelps (Jim), Matthew Lincoln (Ruth), MaryAnne Hurst (Ed), Sharon DiPalma (Louie), Patty McGough (Klein) (Bill), Bob Klein. His Canadian Tilley and O’Brien family. He was preceded by his brother Lester (Barney) Lincoln, sister Delores Klein, and sister Virgina Brown. His nephews Benjamin Miller and James Brown. Niece Colleen Brown. Special Canadian cousin Paul Hafey. He will be laid to rest at 11:00 am on August 19 at St. Mary’s Cemetery Dewitt. Dave’s family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the VA, Hospice, to all the friends and family who spent time and sent well wishes. We also would like to extend our sincere appreciation to the staff at the Wynn Hospital, in particular Dr. Win, Kyle RN, Justin RN, and Joshua RN who cared for Dave with compassion, dignity, and humor.
