Obituary of Pasqualina (Lee) Paul
Mrs. Pasqualina (Lee) Paul, 95, of Utica, passed away on Saturday, September 14, 2024, with her loving family by her side.
Pasqualina was born in Utica, on August 8, 1929, the daughter of Angelo and Giovanna (Rodeo) Salamino. She was raised and educated in Utica, was a 1947 graduate of Proctor High School and a 1950 graduate of St. Elizabeth Hospital School of Nursing. Lee went on to further her education, earning her bachelor’s degree in nursing from SUNY Poly Tech in 1983. In 1948, Pasqualina met the love of her life, Charles “Chuck” H. Paul, Jr., and they married on May 19, 1951, a loving and devoted union of 68 years, until Charles’ death in 2019. From 1971 until her retirement in 1995, Lee was employed as a nurse in the communicable disease department with the Oneida County Health Department. Lee was extremely proud of her work at the Health Department in collaboration with Dr. Susan Blatt. Together they led the county’s tuberculosis program along with several other programs. After her retirement, she became a substitute nurse with the Utica City School District before retiring in 2005. Lee enjoyed crocheting, garage sales and playing cards. For twenty years, Lee and Charles enjoyed their winters in Florida where they made numerous long-lasting friendships, especially her dearest friend, Barbara Rodgers. She was a devout parishioner of Historic Old St. John’s Church in Utica.
Pasqualina leaves her three children, Michael (Elizabeth) Paul, Charles, III (Kathy) Paul and Richard (Marie) Paul; son-in-law, Peter Brown; fourteen grandchildren, Patricia Marashian, Robert (Michelle) Brown, Angela (Doug) Tiffany, Regina Paul, Adrienne Paul, Vincent (Sabrina) Paul, Theresa (Andrew) Kelsey, Michelle Allen, Julie Paul, Lauren Weckesser (Kris Oaks), Rachel Paul, Sydney Paul, Ben Paul and Mary Paul as well as 14 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, Charles, Pasqualina was predeceased by her daughter, Anita Brown in 2023 and sister, Mary Capuano.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to Pasqualina’s Funeral Mass of Christian burial on Friday, September 20, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at Historic Old St. John’s Church in Utica. She will be laid to rest with her beloved Charles in St. Joseph Cemetery in Yorkville. Visitation for family and friends is Thursday, September 19th from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Rd., N. Utica. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Pl., Memphis, TN 38105-9959. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
