Obituary of Douglas A. Zito

     Mr. Douglas A. Zito, 78, of Schuyler, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, June 8, 2024, at his home.

     Douglas was born in Utica, on February 5, 1946, the son of Frank and Frances (Canale) Zito. He was raised and educated in Utica and attended Proctor High School. On August 8, 1997, Douglas was united in marriage with Frances Williams. For many years, Douglas was a self-employed plumber in the Utica area. Doug enjoyed fishing, camping, boating and was a gifted craftsman. Doug will be remembered most for his wonderful sense of humor and ability to make everyone laugh. He was of the Catholic faith.

     Mr. Zito is survived by his beloved wife, Fran; their cherished granddaughter Corina Williams; stepson Michael Williams and his wife Lori of Deerfield, who provided Doug with much love and care;  his son, David Zito and wife Dana and grandson, Anthony Zito; step-sons, Richard Williams, Jr and his wife Michele of Prattsburgh, NY, Ray Williams of Rochester and Dominick Williams and his wife Judy of Utica; Doug was loved and will be sadly missed by his sisters and brothers-in-law,; Sheila Mazzeo of AZ, Lorraine and David Klose of CA and Linda and Chris Grande of Schuyler, who shared a special relationship with Doug and who have lived next door for 28 years; brother and sister-in-law, Frank, Jr. “Sonny” and Becky Zito of IL; two sisters-in-law, Vincenza and Frank Carlesimo of Ontario, NY and Cathy Wittman of Marcy; three nephews and one niece who were extremely close with their uncle Doug: Scott Mazzeo of AZ, Dominick Collicco of CA, Volo Malara of Rochester and Courtney DeRosa and her children, Nina and Dylan of Whitesboro. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his loving mother, Frances, brother, William Zito and brother-in-law, Jesse Wittman.

      Doug truly enjoyed family, joking with Gary Fischer and the wonderful times he spent with his good friend, Freddi Barone 

     Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to graveside service on Saturday, September 28, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. at Carr Cemetery, Rt. 291 in Marcy.
