Mrs. Christina M. Sykes, age 90, affectionately known by family and friends as Chris or Tina, passed away on Monday October 21, 2024, at Utica Rehab and Nursing Center in Utica.

     Christina was born in Troy, NY, on July 28, 1934, the daughter of John and Edna (Gully) Sykes. She was raised and educated in Mechanicville, NY and was a graduate of Mechanicville High School. In 1953, Christina was united in marriage with Richard J. Wincowski. Richard passed away in 1992. For 20 years, Christina was employed with the Savings Bank of Utica and later as an accountant with AAA in Utica, retiring after 20 years of dedicated service. Christina was a longtime devout parishioner of St. Peter’s Church in N. Utica as well as a member of the Alter Rosary Society. She was an advocate and past treasurer of NAMI (National Alliance for Mental Illness), a member of the Red Hat Society and a past Girl Scout leader.

     Mrs. Sykes is survived by her loving daughter, Elizabeth A. Bopp of Rochester; cherished grandson, Paul R. Bopp of N. Utica; four adored great grandchildren, Lillyanna, Logan, Leo and Isla; two sisters, Ellen Alonzo and Marguerite Rubino both of Mechanicville as well as ten nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her grandson, Rodney J. Bopp, Jr.

     Visitation for family and friends is Saturday, November 2, 2024, from 10:00 am until 11:30 am at the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Rd., N. Utica, followed by a memorial Mass of Christian burial at 12:00 noon at St. Peter’s Church, 422 Coventry Ave., N. Utica. She will be laid to rest at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Rochester, NY.
