Mr. Anthony K. Sfeir, Jr., age 79, a longtime resident of Sauquoit, NY and currently residing in West Winfield, NY, passed away on Monday, October 28, 2024, with his loving family by his side.

Anthony, affectionately known as “Giddo” by his cherished granddaughters, was born in Utica, on January 9, 1945, the son of Anthony K., Sr and Lillian (Karam) Sfeir. He was raised in Utica, was a graduate of Proctor High School and Mohawk Valley Community College. On June 13, 1971, Anthony was united in marriage with the former Gail Ann Ganim, a loving and devoted union of 53 years. For over 25 years, Anthony, alongside his beloved wife Gail, was the owner and operator of Sfeir’s Meat Market and Deli in Utica and later Chadwicks. Upon closing the store, he went to work at Smith Packing Company in Utica. Anthony was a member of Knights of Columbus council 189 and its fourth-degree assembly, a parishioner of St. Louis Gonzaga Church in Utica and coached his girls summer league softball teams. He was an active volunteer in the Utica community and was especially proud of his many years of involvement with the Holiday Project, which helped feed needy families during the Christmas holiday season. Anthony’s greatest joy was his “girls” who were the light of his life.

Mr. Sfeir is survived by his beloved wife, Gail; his three cherished daughters, Ann Marie (Joe) Farrell of Cassville, Kimberly (Brandon) Martin of Frankfort and Shelly (Jamie) Bennett of West Winfield; his four adored granddaughters, Kylee Martin, Alexis Farrell, Lilly Bennett and Paityn Bennett; two sisters, Diane Cecilia and Joanne (David) Taurisano all of Utica; sisters-in-law, Peggy Ganim of Rochester and Jeanette Bliss of New Hartford; brother-in-law, Gregory (Jackie) Ganim of NY Mills and three special nieces, Carla, Joanna and Doreen, along with several additional nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Anthony and Lillian, he was predeceased by his brother-in-law, Ferruccio Cecilia.
