Pat and I became lifelong friends when she, a nurse at the old St. Luke's hospital and I, a nurse at the old Memorial hospital, came together when the two hospitals merged to become St. Luke's Memorial Hospital on Champlain Ave. Both in our 20's, we shared many happy times along with RN's Marilyn Hensel, Carolyn Sahl and Joyce (Kolmer) Borrill. The craziest time was spent on Fridays after work at the Elaine Powers Fitness Center (upper Genesee St) working the belts around our 'middles' and 'below' and then crossing the street and gorging on the Friday night fish fries at the Uptown Grill with always the same friendly waitress. We laughed that luckily we had worked out but always came out with those extra pounds. Spent time with the girls in Maine vacationing, eating, laughing and one time tuned into the 1972 Democratic Convention which turned into a free for all. Pat & I were the culprits in the hilarious shenanigans we pulled on Marilyn and Joyce at that time. I can honestly say that my memories of Pat and her warm and inviting family is surely a treasured memory.
Pat always referred to me as DeeO - her name for me will always be cherished.
Pat, you will be forever missed.
