June E. (Wengert) Wilczek, 90, of Yorkville, passed away on Sunday, January 3, 2016, at the Lutheran Home, surrounded by her loving family. June was born in Utica, NY on June 19, 1925, a daughter of Louis and Lucinda (Girvan) Wengert. She was raised in Utica and graduated from Whitesboro Central School in 1943. On November 29, 1947 she was united in marriage with Walter V. Wilczek, Sr. at Sacred Heart Church, Utica. She was a life long parishioner of the Church of the Sacred Heart and St. Mary Our Lady of Czestochowa. She was a lifetime member of the Ladies Auxiliary to the VFW, Town of Whitestown and Yorkville Fire Dept. Auxiliary. June enjoyed bowling for many years at the Polish Community Club in Utica and volunteered frequently in her community. Mostly, June enjoyed being a devoted wife to her husband and a cherished mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. June demonstrated an incredible love and kindness to all who knew her. Her subtle wit brought a smile to those who had the joy to spend time with her. As she leaves this world, June’s family and friends find comfort in knowing that her bright light will be shining down upon them and they will feel her warmth and love forever. June is survived by her devoted children: Walter Wilczek, Jr. and his friend Terry of Westmoreland, Steven Wilczek and Dr. Kathleen Fusco of Remsen, Nancy Crandall and her friend Mike of Yorkville, Janice and Terry Johnson of Poland, and Susan and Danny Mitchum of Youngsville, NC; and dear family friend Kris Knibiehly of Westmoreland. Grandchildren and spouses/friends: Dylan Thomas, Waylan and Kristen Wilczek, Scott Buchanan, Cassandra Wilczek and Ryan , Shawn Sprague and Mona, Matthew and Noelle Sprague, Stevie Wilczek, Stephanie and Steve Yager, Billy Crandall and Heather, Jessica Johnson-Rowlands , Russell and Danielle Johnson , Mandy and Army SPC Jacob Moultrie, and Carrie Althoff. Great-grand children: Tyler, Kyle, Kaylan, Matthew, Olivia, Nicholas, Sofia, Nevaeh, Sophia, Kiley, Reese, Cory, Bobby and two more in the spring; and several dear nieces, nephews, and cousins. June leaves many special friends at the Lutheran Home. She treasured your friendships and will miss all of you. June was predeceased by her husband, Walter V. Wilczek, Sr. in November 2014, five brothers, Marvin, Earl, George, Louis and John Wengert, and two sisters, Evelyn Warmuth and Lucy Millson June’s funeral will be held on Friday, January 8, 2016 at 9:15 from Heintz Funeral Home, 1517 Whitesboro St. , Utica and at 10:00 from the Church of the Sacred Heart and St. Mary Our Lady of Czestochowa, New York Mills. Burial will take place in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Whitesboro. Calling hours at the funeral home are Thursday from 4-7. Those wishing so may make a donation to the Lutheran Home, Clinton NY, or Hospice of Oneida County in June’s memory.
