March 31, 1927 – January 15, 2025

Phoebe Slade, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully in her sleep on January 15, 2025.

Born and raised in Utica to Walter and Katherine Spencer on March 31, 1927. Phoebe attended and graduated from Utica Free Academy and was employed with Utica Mutual. On June 26, 1948, Phoebe was united in marriage with Timothy W. Slade, a blessed union of 56 years, until Timothy's death in 2004.

She leaves behind a loving family: daughter Donna and her husband Bill Taylor of Utica, daughter Gail and her husband Terry Tesak of New Hartford, daughter Susan and her husband Frank Maine of Deerfield, and son Michael Slade of New Hartford. Phoebe was a cherished grandmother to Terry Richard, Jennifer, Debby, Brian, Ryan, Matt and Zackery, and she will be fondly remembered by her many great-grandchildren. Phoebe is also survived by her favorite nephew, Martin Spencer, who held a special place in her heart.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff at St. Luke's Nursing Home for their compassionate care of Phoebe, especially Diane, Karen and Kristine, who took special care of her for the past 18 months.
