Catherine J. (Dude) Johnson, 80, a beloved mother, sister, aunt and friend, passed away peacefully on November 22, 2018, surrounded by family and friends who cared deeply for her. Catherine was born on June 28, 1938, the beloved daughter of Charles H. Johnson and Mary Kaminski Johnson. Catherine found great comfort in her Catholic faith. She attended local schools and was a graduate of U.F.A. She had a very strong work ethic and was employed by Utica Converters for 38 years. She was not only the matriarch of her family but a good neighbor and a true friend. Anyone at anytime who stopped by her home was welcomed warmly, fed to excess and given her absolute undivided attention. As her health declined she was appreciative of the care she was given at the St. Luke’s Home Clark West, with special mention of Executive Director Mike McCoy and his canine companion, “Rocky”, who brightened her days with their daily visits, and the staff who became her friends, Vicky L., Malinda, Bev, Vornette, Wayne, Nina, Jennifer G., Betsy, Lejuana, Mo, Alex, Candys, Tijan, Mary, Emily, Jorene, Hanka, Connie and Cathy J. Thank you to Theresa Monaco for all your support and to Norma Mahoney, who became a dear friend not only to Catherine but also her family-how she enjoyed your visits. We know Catherine was greeted in heaven by her parents, her sister, Rose Marie and her brothers, Charles and Robert and her brothers-in-law, George Lein and David Murdock and all the other family members who predeceased her. She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, Mary Catherine and son-in-law, Ken Warren; her sisters, Patricia Murdock and Mary Lein; sister-in-law, Rose Marie; her most special nieces and nephews, Mark Johnson, Kimberly and Ed Wessinger (Zachary), Christopher and Patti Lein (Izabella, Christopher and Harper) and Kristin and Michael Skobla. She also leaves her cousins to whom she was very close to, Erin Abrams, Elizabeth Morelli, Natalie and Bud McGraw, Linda and Nick Zenzillo, David and Karen Johnson and Eric and Karen Johnson. Catherine leaves many special friends who never forgot her and continued to visit, Nonnie and Nancy Czebeniak, Karen Boucher, Roseanne Brodt, Donna Speciale, Anna Shaut, Billy Manfredo, Maria N. and Mary Kate Rinko. In keeping with Catherine’s wishes, there will be no public visitation and a mass will be held at St. Joseph & St. Patrick Church. The family asks that you pay your respects to Catherine by committing an act of kindness for someone in the nursing home or in the community.
