WATERVILLE - William "Bill" T. O'Dowd, 88, of Waterville, passed away Wednesday, October 28, 2015, at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Utica. Bill was born on April 29, 1927, in Utica, the son of William and Mary Agnes (Dowd) O'Dowd. He was raised and educated in Waterville, and a graduate of Waterville High School. In 1945, Bill served his country with the US Army. On June, 28, 1952, Bill married Margaret Helen Hyde at St. Mary's Church in Clinton. Mrs. O'Dowd passed away in 2007. Bill was employed with Oneida Limited for 45 years, until his retirement in 1992. He belonged to St. Bernard's Church in Waterville. Bill was a member of the Clifford J. Fulmer American Legion Post # 92, of the Waterville Historical Society, and a "founding member" of the P&M Club. Bill is survived by one daughter, Mary Margaret O'Dowd (& Thomas Potter), Maine; four sons, Michael (& Olga) O'Dowd, Illinois, Stephen O'Dowd (& Rhonda Brown), Virginia, John (& Yim Kim) O'Dowd, New Hampshire, David O'Dowd (& Hirschel McGinnis); seven grandchildren, Dennis, Kathy, Caitlin, Fallon, Liam, Roisin, and Dylan; two sisters, Patricia Ireland and Sheila Williams, both of Waterville. He is predeceased by two sisters, Rosemary Porter and Marjorie Stephens. Mr. O'Dowd's funeral will be held on Thursday, November 5, 2015 at 11:00 am in St. Bernard's Church in Waterville where his Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will follow in St. Bernard's Cemetery, Waterville. Relatives and friends may call at the Heintz Funeral Home, 10 East Park Row, Clinton, on Wednesday evening, from 4 - 7 pm. Those wishing may donate to the Waterville Area Volunteer Ambulance Corps, the Waterville Volunteer Fire Dept., or to the Waterville Historical Society in Bill's memory.
