Eleanora L. VanHatten, 91, of the Presbyterian Home and formerly of Marcy passed away on Wednesday, September 16, 2015. Eleanora was born in Utica on October 19, 1923 a daughter of Charles L. and Anna T. (Liebel) VanHatten. She was a 1941 graduate of Whitesboro High School. Eleanora was employed with the New York Telephone Co. for 35 years retiring in 1982. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America, the Marcy and Floyd Seniors and a lifelong parishioner of St. Joseph and St. Patrick Church and the Altar Rosary Society of the church. Eleanora is survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews. Eleanora was predeceased by 4 sisters, Mary Deering, Helen Strife, Beatrice VanHatten and Doris VanHatten and 2 brothers, Robert VanHatten and Joseph VanHatten. Eleanora's funeral will be held on Tuesday, September 22, 2015 at 9:15 from the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Rd., N. Utica and at 10:00 from St. Joseph & St. Patrick Church, Utica. Burial will take place in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home are Monday from 4-7. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Joseph & St. Patrick Church. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff of the Birch Wing of the Presbyterian Home for all the loving care given to Eleanora.
