Rose M. (Judy) Sears, 95, a resident at St. Joseph's Nursing Home, Utica, formerly of Churchill Ave, passed away August 1, 2015 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center with her loving family at her side. Rose was born in Utica on May 17, 1920, the daughter of William B. and Frances (Auger ) Marsh. She was raised and educated locally, graduating from Utica schools. On October 17,1942, at Sacred Heart Church, Utica, Rose was married to Albert M. Sears. Mr. Sears passed away in 2001. She was a housewife, and mother ,who was happiest taking care of her family and home, but did have several part-time positions in the Utica area over the years. Rose was a former member of Sacred Heart Church, the Utica PTA and the Utica Senior Center. Judy as Rose was known by her family and several friends is survived by her four children, Shiela Sears of Utica, Sherry Wong and her husband Tom of Utica, Ronald G. and wife Mary Sears, of Plainfield, IL., and Larry A. Sears of Utica; nine grandchildren, Chris Sears, Chantelle (Jerome) Allen, Kristen Sears, Lynn (Michael) Stevens, Michelle (Jeffrey) Pukacz, Anissa Sears, Justin (Meaghan) Sears, Nicole Wong , and Tomasina Wong; twelve great grandchildren, Joshua, Alanis, Karimah, Marcus, McKenna, Kaedin, Riley, Ryan, Aaron, Kamari, and Kyleigh; one cherished great great grandchild, Ethan. Besides her husband Albert, she was predeceased by an infant daughter, Sharon Judith Sears; and a brother and sister in law, Thomas and Betty Marsh. Mrs. Sears' funeral will be on Wednesday, August 5, 2015 at 9:15 AM from the Heintz Funeral Home, 1517 Whitesboro St., Utica, and at 10:00 AM at Historic St. John's Church, Utica , where her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated . Her Rite of Burial will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Frankfort. Her calling hours will be Tuesday evening , August 4, 2015 from 4:00 until 8:00 PM. The family would like to express a special thank you to the Special Care Unit at St. Elizabeth Medical Center and also St. Joseph's Nursing Home , 3rd floor for all their care and compassion for their mother.
