Thomas H. Greer, 69, of Utica passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 9, 2015 at Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare with his family by his side. He was born in Utica on October 16, 1945, the son of Francis and Thelma (Foxenberg) Greer. Tom graduated from Whitesboro High School and began his long career in independent contracting. He was previously married to Kate Sherman for thirty eight years and had eight children together. Tom was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed camping, fishing and hiking in the Adirondacks. He shared this passion with his children for many years. Tom always enjoyed a good game of cards and listening to classic rock music. He especially enjoyed going to the Saratoga Race Track with his son Todd. Tommy had a great sense of humor and was known to be the life of the party. Tom is survived by his eight children and their spouses: Michael Todd Greer, Tammy and Vinny Guarno, Kelly and Jerry Savicki, Melissa and Mike Bartoletti, Sarah and Joe Bono, Megan and Dave Sergott, Amanda and Jasen Catalfamo, Courtney Greer and fiancé, Ben Farnham. He also leaves behind eleven grandchildren: Miranda and Carly Guarno, Emma and Ryan Savicki, Charlie, Kate, and Allie Bartoletti, Joseph and Josh Bono, Mya and Ella Sergott. Tom is also survived by his brother and sister-in-law John and Sue Greer, and sister, Joan Hillebrand. In addition he is survived by the mother of his children, Kate Longley who continued to be a supportive friend. He also leaves behind his beloved beta fish Oscar. He was predeceased by his brother-in-law Paul Hillebrand. A memorial service for Tom will be held on Friday, April 17, 2015, 11:00am at St. Joseph-St. Patrick's Church, Utica.
