Miss Norma M. Gubbins,. 88, a resident of the Beechwood Continuing Care Facility in Buffalo, formerly of New Hartford, passed away on Wednesday, March 4, 2015 at the nursing Home. Norma was born in Utica on June 16, 1926 the daughter of T. Lester and Cecelia (Morath) Gubbins. She was raised and educated in Utica and was a graduate of Utica Catholic Academy. For many years, Norma was employed with NY Telephone Company, retiring in 1982. A parishioner of Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Utica and St. Patrick's Church in Clayville, Norma was deeply religious and attended Mass daily. She had a great love of classical music and was a talented pianist and organist. Norma was a devoted daughter who lovingly cared for her parents in their later years. Miss Gubbins is survived by her brother, Lester Gubbins of Yardley, PA; nieces and nephews, Suzanne Sarra and her husband James of Amherst, NY, Barbara Rossi of Yardley, PA, David M. Gubbins of Ava, NY and Donald E. Gubbins, Jr. and his wife Barbara of Niagara Falls, NY as well as several cousins, and great nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by one brother and two sisters-in-law, Donald and Gloria Gubbins and Eleanor Gubbins. There are no calling hours. A memorial Mass of Christian burial will be held at a later Date. Her burial in St. Mary's Cemetery in Utica will be held at the convenience of her family. Arrangements have been entrusted to Heintz Funeral Service, Inc., Utica.
