Mrs. Kathryn M. Hilts Barry Norton, passed away on Wednesday, January 14, 2015 with her loving family by her side. Kathy was born in Eaton, NY on August 17, 1936, the daughter of the late C. Warner Hilts Jr. and Margaret Hodges Hilts Sweeney. She attended local schools and was married to David J. Norton. David passed away July 2, 1997. Kathy was a former member and past president of the New Hartford American Legion Auxiliary Post 1376 and a parishioner of Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Utica. Mrs. Norton is survived by three sons, Bill Barry, James (Sheree) Barry and Richard (Christine) Barry; Five daughters, Wendy (Everett) Hopper, Lynn (John) Austin, Diane (Dennis) Erlewine, Michele (Joseph) Teti and Debra (James) Warthman; an aunt, Helen Jennings; two sisters, Marjorie Oravetz and Shirley Hilts-Adams; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law Tom and Geraldine Norton as well as several grandchildren, five great granddaughters, two great grandsons , nieces, nephews and cousins. She also leaves special friends, D'Anna and Julio Solano, Carla LoCaccio, David and Nicole Henkle, Tracey, Bob and Bobby Davenport, Paul and Nina Spencer, Mary Patricia Shanahan and Mary Louise DiMaggio. She was predeceased by a grandson, Jeremy Eldred in 1996 and special friends, Bonita Spencer and Frank and Cindy Henkle. There are no calling hours. A memorial Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday, January 17, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Utica. Her Rite of Committal and burial, in St. Mary's Cemetery in Utica will be held at the convenience of her family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc., 4277 Middle Settlement Rd., New Hartford, NY 13413 in Kathy's memory.
