Patricia S. Jones, 78, of Holland Patent, passed away on Monday, January 12, 2015 at the Masonic Care Community. Patricia was born in Flushing, NY on May 2, 1936, a daughter of Thomas and Grace (Nelson) Soukup. She received her Bachelors Degree from Vassar College and Masters Degree from Colgate University. Patricia married Robert E. Jones on July 4, 1958 at the First Presbyterian Church in New Hartford. Mr. Jones passed away in 1994. For over 30 years Patricia was a teacher in the New Hartford School System. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Holland Patent, New Hartford Retired Teachers Association, Red Hat Society, Eastern Star Valley Star Chapter, Delta Kappa Gamma, and the AAUW, where she held all the officer positions. Patricia derived great joy spending time with family and friends at her camp on Otter Lake. Patricia is survived by her daughter, Carrie Jones, of Holland Patent, her son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Margaret Jones, of Marcy, her three grandchildren, Megan and Robert Jones, of Marcy and Victoria Lucido, of Rochester, NY, a brother and sister-in-law, Daniel and Louise Soukup, of Seaford, DE, and a nephew, Kevin and Jody Soukup of Crisfield, MD. Patricia was predeceased by a brother and sister-in-law, Thomas and June Soukup and two nephews, Richard and Mark Soukup. A funeral service for Mrs. Jones will be held on Friday, January 16, 2015 at 10:00 from the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Rd., N. Utica. A spring burial will take place in Forest Hill Cemetery, Utica. Calling hours at the funeral home will be held on Thursday from 4-7. Those so wishing may make donations to the Holland Patent Volunteer Fire Department, the Holland Patent Library or the Otter Lake Volunteer Fire Department in Patricia's memory.
