Gerald W. Steele, 76, of Utica, passed away Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Utica. Gerald was born January 16, 1938 in Utica, the son of Wesley and Jane (Tulloch) Steele. He was raised and educated in Utica. Gerald went on to serve his country with the US National Guard. For many years, Gerald was a painter and roofer in the Utica area, before going to work for the Parks Department for the city of Utica. He was a member of the former St. Francis de Sales Church, Utica. Gerald enjoyed coin collecting as well as collecting sports memorabilia. Gerald is survived by a daughter, Jayne Steele-Patrick, Dahlonega, Georgia; a son, Gerald Steele, Dawsonville, Georgia; six grandchildren, Michael, Kevin, and Chrystal Steele, Danielle Patel, Carmela and Corey Patrick; as well as ten great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters, Beverly Dellanno, Florida, and Priscilla Roseti, Utica; two brothers, Wesley Steele, Jr., Florida, and Thomas Steele, Florida; and also many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by one sister, Shirley Cooney, and one brother, Jack Steele. Mr. Steele's funeral services are being held privately at the convenience of the family. Interment will take place privately in Crown Hill Memorial Park, Kirkland. Arrangements are entrusted to the Heintz Funeral Home, 1517 Whitesboro St., Utica.
