Obituary of Dolores J. Guca

Mrs. Dolores J. (Babci) Guca, 81, a resident of NY Mills, passed away at the Masonic Care Community on Saturday, November 15, 2014 after a brief illness. Dolores was born in Utica on April 10, 1933, a daughter of Marek and Katherine (Pendl) Perlock and was a graduate of Utica Free Academy. On August 15, 1953, Dolores was united in marriage to Alfred S. Guca at Holy Trinity Church, a blessed union of 42 years until his death on July 7, 1995. Dolores was a stay at home mom, then after her children were grown went to work at BOCES and Tiny's Grill. She was a member of the Church of The Sacred Heart and St. Mary Our Lady of Czestochowa, the New York Mills Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and the Malson-Jones V.F.W. Post # 7393. Dolores was an avid walker and enjoyed walking through the Village of New York Mills with her good friend Carol. She was a proud participant in America's Greatest Heart Run and Walk every year. Dolores is survived by her three children and spouses, Michael and Lynn Guca, Utica, Thomas and Sharon Guca, New York Mills and Cynthia and Patrick O'Grady, Mooresville, NC. Babci will be greatly missed by her seven grandchildren, Zachary, Brian, Thomas Jr., Michelle, Daniel, Carly and Kayla. Dolores is also survived by a sister and brother-in-law, Ann and John Rumbutis, Utica, a brother, Edward (Monte) Perlock, Ilion and a brother-in-law, Edward Wojnas, New York Mills. Always close to her heart was the cherished memory of her son, Bob Guca, who passed away on January 3, 2012. Dolores was predeceased by siblings and in-laws, Mary and Oski Zyskowski, John Perlock, Stanley and Sadie Perlock, Joseph and Louise Perlock, Jean Perlock and Helen Wojnas. Mrs. Guca's funeral will be held on Thursday, November 20, 2014 at 9:15 from the Heintz Funeral Home, 1517 Whitesboro St., Utica and at 10:00 from the Church of The Sacred Heart and St. Mary Our Lady of Czestochowa. Burial will take place in St. Stanislaus and Casimir Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home are Wednesday from 4-7. Those so wishing may make donations to the New York Mills Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary or America's Greatest Heart Run and Walk in Mrs. Guca's memory. The family would like to thank the N.Y. Mills Fire and Police Departments and the Masonic Care Community especially the nurses and staff of the Troy Unit. The New York Mills Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary will meet at the funeral home Wednesday evening at 6:00.
