Obituary of Wilson Roy Hinckley

Wilson Roy Hinckley, 74, of Holland Patent, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, September 17, 2014. Roy was born February 18, 1940, in Utica, NY, the son of Wilson Roy, Sr. and Erma (Newman) Hinckley. He was raised and educated locally. On January 15, 1983, Roy married Sandra M. Izzo, in Utica, sharing a loving union of 31 years. Roy was employed with Roadway Express, where he drove trucks as well as serviced and maintained the vehicles for 33 years, retiring in 1999. He was dedicated to company goals and values and was honored for driving a million miles, accident free. Roy received many awards recognizing his dedication, quality service, and commitment to safety. His awards reflected his skillful driving, exceptional service and maintenance. While working with Roadway Express, he also ran his own truck repair service called Roy Hinckley Service. Roy was also a proud member of the Teamsters Union, Local 182. After his retirement, Roy's passion and talent for maintaining and rebuilding automobiles continued as he began his own dealership, where he bought and restored over 800 vehicles. He was a diehard Syracuse University fan. Roy was dedicated to his family and friends, and in time, even learned to enjoy vacations. Roy is survived by his beloved wife, Sandra M. Hinckley, Holland Patent; his mother, Erma Hinckley, North Utica; his son, James Roy Hinckley, Arizona; his daughter, Bonnie Albert, Kentucky; four grandchildren, David (& Tiffany) Albert, Amy Albert, Stephen (& Brittany) Albert, and Anna Albert; one great grandson, Tucker Albert; a sister-in-law, Michele Whitman, New York Mills; a brother-in-law, Alonso Ferreira, Yorkville. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Jessica Whitman, and a special nephew, Michael Ferreira. Roy is predeceased by his father, Wilson Roy Hinckley, Sr.; a sister, Debra Hinckley Jones; and a brother, Robert Hinckley. A Memorial Mass for Mr. Hinckley will be held on Wednesday, September 24, 2014 at 12:00 pm at St. Louis Gonzaga Maronite Church in Utica. Entombment in Calvary Cemetery will take place privately at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are entrusted to the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Rd., North Utica.
