Mr. Robert Paul Pietras, 70, of Deerfield, passed away on Monday, August 25, 2014 at his home with his loving family by his side. Robert was born in Rome, NY on May 28, 1944 the son of Edward and Genevieve (Demski) Pietras. He was raised in Rome and was a graduate of Rome Free Academy. Paul proudly served in the United States Marine Corps. On July 26, 1969, Paul married Andrea L. Kula at Our lady of Lourdes Church in Utica. For over 30 years, he was employed as a Technician with Mid-State Communications in Oriskany, NY and for 40 years, Paul served the Town of Deerfield as a member of the Deerfield Volunteer Fire Department. Mr. Pietras is survived by his beloved wife, Andrea; one son and daughter-in-law, Everett and Valerie Pietras of Deerfield; three sisters and one brother-in-law, Carol and Dave Kelsey of IL, Sue Messman of IN and Irene VanRyn of IN; one brother and two sisters-in-law, Chester and Sandy Pietras of IN and Peggy Pietras of Liverpool, NY as well as several nieces, nephews and in-laws. Also surviving is Paul's "canine grandchild" Duke. He was predecease by his brother, Eugene Pietras. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Rd., N. Utica on Thursday, August 28, 2014 from 4:00-7:00 p.m. A private service will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Deerfield Volunteer Fire Department in Paul's memory. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
