Obituary of Barbara J. Cahill

Barbara Behr (Ambrose) Cahill, 85, passed away on August 21, 2014 at the Lutheran Home in Clinton. Born on July 17, 1929 in Utica, New York, Barbara was the daughter of John Albert and Anna Behr. She graduated from St. Francis de Sales High School and married George Ambrose in August 1949. She was employed at Utica Mutual Insurance Company until her retirement in 1991. Barbara was a member of the Woman's Auxiliary NY Mills Post 7393. Barbara loved to sing and her remarkable voice was loved by many. She sang in the choir of many local churches throughout her life, most recently Our Lady of the Rosary in New Hartford. For many years she performed throughout the state as the soloist for the NY State, the District 4, and the MACC Mohawk Adirondack County VFW's. She loved to travel especially to visit her children. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, James and Anna Ambrose of Sauquoit, NY, and her granddaughter, Arianne Van Slyke, with whom she resided for 10 years prior to moving to the Lutheran Home. She is also survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Thomas and Jennifer Ambrose of Louisville, CO; her daughter and son-in-law, Annie and Bruce Jaworoski, Lewisville, NC; her son and daughter-in-law, Kyle and Sandy Ambrose, Las Vegas, NV; her son and daughter-in-law, Martin and Tessa Ambrose, Henderson, NV; and her son and daughter-in-law, Greg and Sharon Ambrose, West Jordan, UT. She is survived by her grandchildren Adam, Mason, Ryan and Travis Ambrose (Tom's children); Adam Ambrose and Lisa Page (Annie's children); Arianne Van Slyke and Christian Ambrose (Jim's children); Nathan and Tiffany Ambrose (Kyle's children); Andrew, Gregory and Loren, and Drianna Ambrose (Marty's children); and Chelsea Ambrose (Greg's daughter) . She is also survived by her brother and sister-in-law, James and Marie Behr, as well as many great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank the staff, especially Vickie, at the Lutheran Home for all their care. As well as Father Honald for coming into our lives at the perfect moment. Barbara's Memorial Mass will take place on Wednesday, August 27, at 10:30 at Our Lady of the Rosary Church on Burrstone Road in New Hartford, where her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will take place in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Whitestown. Arrangements are entrusted to the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Rd., North Utica.
