Gregory B. Campbell, 65, of Whitesboro passed away unexpectedly August 5, 2014. Greg was born in Utica on October 10, 1948 a son of the late Harry and Ruth (Kelly) Campbell. Greg was a 1966 graduate of Utica Free Academy. In 1975 he was appointed to the Utica Fire Department and served as a dispatcher for the city and the county. As a member of the Fire Department, Greg was in charge of Dispatch for Utica and Oneida County. He was also instrumental in computerizing the records for the city dispatch. He retired in 2012. Greg is survived by his son, Derek Campbell of Yorkville, two brothers and a sister-in-law, Gary Campbell, Utica, and Bradley and Joann Campbell, Whitesboro, his former wife, Susan Vincent, and many nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held Thursday from 4:00-8:00 PM. at the Heintz Funeral Home, 1517 Whitesboro St., Utica. A memorial prayer service for Mr. Campbell will follow calling hours. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Greg's memory to EMS - Rescue 1 of the Utica Fire Department or The Mother Marianne West Side Soup Kitchen. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
