Matthew E. Szuba, 45, of Utica passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, July 20, 2014 at his home. Matthew was born in Utica on June 16, 1969, the son of Edward Szuba and the late Patricia (Flanagan) Szuba. He was raised and educated in Utica and was a 1987 graduate of Utica Free Academy. Matthew was employed by MetLife for 15 years and treasured his friendships that he made there. Matthew's greatest joy was the time and memories he shared with his dog Simon, sister Lis, friends and all of his very special nieces and nephews Matthew is survived by his beloved canine companion Simon, his father, Ed Szuba; brothers and sister, Mike and Tess Szuba and their 2 children, Caroline and Steven, Mace and Rosa Szuba and their 2 children, Cassandra and Daniel, Marc and Kathy Szuba and their 3 children, Emily, Sarah and Laura, Melanie and Rick Zaniewski and their 3 children, Lauren, Erin and Caitlin, a brother-in-law, Jim Sadallah and his 2 children, Colby and Tyler, and a very special aunt, Jinx. Matthew was predeceased by his mother, Patricia Szuba, a sister, Melissa Sadallah, a nephew, Luke Zaniewski and a niece, Catherine Szuba. A Memorial Mass for Matthew will be held on Saturday morning, July 26, 2014 at 9:30 at St. Joseph's & St. Patrick's Church, Columbia St., Utica. There are no calling hours. Burial will take place in the Prospect Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
