Mrs. Sharon L. Moore Henderson, a lifelong resident of Utica and beloved wife of Gordon Henderson, passed away on May 3, 2014 at her home with her loving family by her side. Sharon was born in Utica on September 10, 1941 the daughter of John and Alice (Cormie) Moore and received her education in local schools. For 39 years, Sharon and Gordon enjoyed a loving marriage and for many years, owned the Blue Baron Restaurant in Alder Creek. She was also employed with various local restaurants most of her adult life. Mrs. Henderson is survived by her loving husband, Gordon; six step-children, Mark (Lisa) Henderson, Nancy Zoeckler, Sherry Diefenbacher, James (Michelle) Henderson, John (Zandra) Henderson and Chad (Madel) Hoffman; three brothers, John and Diane Moore, Walter (Pete) and Rita Moore and Richard Moore; one sister, Carol (Joanne) Mazza and her favorite aunt, Anna Richards as well as many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her beloved son, James Kehrli in 1995; parents, John and Alice, one brother, Pat Moore and her cherished nephew, Teddy. Mrs. Henderson's funeral will be held on Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Rd., N. Utica. Rite of Committal and burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery in Utica. Calling hours for family and friends are Tuesday from 4:00-7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc., the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation or a favorite charity in Sharon's memory. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Mrs. Henderson's family extends a special thank you to the staff at St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Unit 3A, the instructors and students at St. Elizabeth College of Nursing, the R.T. Department, Dr. El Koury, and Dr. Yoss for the wonderful care you all provided. A heartfelt thank you to Debbie as well as the nurses and staff of Hospice Care for the compassion and love you showed Sharon and especially Justin for her singing.
