ORISKANY - Beatrice J. Palmer, 84, a resident of the Eastern Star Nursing Home, formerly of Utica, passed away Friday, April 25, 2014 at the home with her family by her side. Beatrice was born in Syracuse, NY on March 30, 1930, the daughter of William and Edna (Hoole) Gagnon. She was raised and educated in Utica. In 1946, Beatrice married William Palmer in Utica, sharing a union of 50 years, until his passing in 1996. She was of the Catholic faith and a former member of St. Joseph & St. Patrick's Church, Utica. Beatrice enjoyed arts and crafts in her younger years, but her passion was her family. Her children and her grandchildren were everything to her. Beatrice is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Valerie and George Walchusky, Utica, Terry and Dennis Stark, Utica; two sons, Rocco Palmer (and his fiancée, Rose Kupiec), Rome, Joseph Palmer, Chadwicks; a daughter-in-law, Sandy Palmer, Clinton; as well as 18 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren, and five great, great grandchildren. She is also survived by four sisters and two brothers-in-law, Alice Hoole, Utica, Arlene Appler, Utica, Roseann and Jim Magee, Utica, Jacqueline and Butch King, Utica; four brothers and seven sisters-in-law, Raymond and Rosemary Gagnon, Marcy, Jack and Cynthia Gagnon, Utica, Edward and Sharon Gagnon, Utica, Denny and Wanda Gagnon, Utica, Dorothy Gagnon, Clark Mills, Dolores Gagnon, Utica, Gloria Cifonelli, Utica. Besides her husband, Beatrice is predeceased by a son, William Palmer, Jr.; a daughter-in-law, Sheila Palmer, three brothers, Billy, Joe and Jim Gagnon; and a sister and brother-in-law, MaryLou and Pat Zenobio. Mrs. Palmer's funeral service will be held Tuesday, April 29, 2014 at 10:00 am at the Heintz Funeral Home, 1517 Whitesboro St., Utica. Interment will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Utica. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the funeral home, Monday evening, from 4 - 7 pm. Those wishing may donate to the Eastern Star Home in Beatrice's memory.
