Marlin Sanger Boone, 71, of Whitesboro, passed away Monday April 7, 2014, in the comfort of her own home surrounded by family and friends. Marlin, was born on September 11, 1942, in Utica, NY. She was the daughter of the late Curtis and Kathryn (Jones) Sanger. Marlin was a graduate of St. Francis de Sales High School and the Utica School of Practical Nursing. She was employed as a surgical nurse at St. Elizabeth Hospital until her retirement. Marlin was also a member of the Catholic Women's Club and the Sacred Heart Guild. On October 9, 1965, she married Carleton Boone at Sacred Heart Church in Utica. She was a lifelong member of Sacred Heart Church until its closing. At that time she became a member of St. Paul's Church in Whitesboro. Marlin had a deep devotion and commitment to her family. She was happiest when she was surrounded by them. Her family was the light of her life. Marlin received great joy in making each holiday memorable for everyone. Marlin especially loved spending time at the St. Lawrence River where she could relax and enjoy spending time with her loved ones. Marlin is survived by her husband, Carleton, three daughters and their spouses, Kathy and Paul Smyth and their children, Stephen and McKenna, of Stittville, Karen and Jim Barton and their children, Kate, Sara, Hannah, Ally, and great granddaughter, Olivia, of Floyd, and Krissy and Brian Sciortino and their children, Jenn and Griffin, of Whitesboro, brothers and sisters, Curtis (Bub) Sanger, his children and families, of Oswego, Jerry and Joan Marie Sanger, their children and families, of Vernon, Steve and Kathy Sanger, their children and families, of Whitesboro, Mary Jo (Jody) Sanger, of Schuyler and Wendy and Kevin Leach, their children and families, of Schuyler. Marlin also leaves The Warner's who are truly family. To Karen Warner, words cannot express what a gift your love and friendship over the last 45 years meant to Marlin and will always mean to us. Thank you. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Dr. Snow and all the nurses at St. Elizabeth's Hospital 4th floor and ICU, who truly made a difference to Marlin and her family. Also thank you to Mark, Cheryl, Stephanie, Jessica C., Laurie S., and Joanne W. from Hospice for all their love and support. Marlin's funeral will be held on Thursday, April 10, 2014 at 10:45 from the Heintz Funeral Home, 1517 Whitesboro St., Utica and at 11:30 from St. Paul's Church, Whitesboro. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Yorkville. Calling hours at the funeral home are Wednesday (today) from 4 - 7. Online messages of sympathy may be made at Heintzfuneralservice.net.
