Julius F. Weigand, 91, passed away April 7, 2014 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center. Julius was born in Newport, NY on May 8, 1922, the son of Benjamin and Martha (Schrader) Weigand. He was raised and educated locally, and attended UFA School. Julius later served his country, in the US Army, during WWll. On April 22, 1950, at St. Agnes Church, Utica he was married to Margaret Schultz. Mrs. Weigand died in 2010, after 60 years of marriage. For many years, until his retirement in 2007, Julius was the owner-operator of the Utica Dental Laboratory. He was devoted to his family and his job. Julius is survived by two daughters, Margaret Bolton and husband Daniel of CA., Sharon Weigand of Whitesboro; four sons, William and Nancy Weigand of N.Tonawanda, Robert and Deborah Weigand of Marcy, Dr. James and Linda Weigand of Auburn, ME., and Thomas and Christina Weigand of Deerfield; ten grandchildren, Gregory, Steven, and Christopher Weigand, Mary and Dean Bolton, Jordan, Matthew, and Erin Weigand, Quintin and Morgan Weigand; and one cherished great granddaughter, Sophie Weigand. He also leaves, one brother and sister in law, Lloyd and Anne Weigand of Leesburg, FL. Besides his wife and parents , Julius was predeceased by one brother, Earl Weigand. Mr. Weigand's funeral service will be held Saturday, April 12, 2014, at 2:00 PM at the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Rd., N. Utica. His burial will be at St. Peter's Cemetery at the convenience of his family. Calling hours at the funeral home, will be held from 12:00 until 2:00, prior to his service, and from the conclusion of the service until 4:00 PM.
