UTICA - Jeannette H. Walker, 85, of Utica, passed away Tuesday, April 8, 2014 at the Siegenthaler Center for Hospice & Palliative Care in Kirkland. Jeannette was born November 25, 1928 in Utica, the daughter of Harold and Alice (Miller) Kahler. She was raised and educated locally and a graduate of St. Francis de Sales High School. Later, at the age of 60, she graduated from the Utica School of Commerce. Jeannette had married James Walker. Mr. Walker passed away in 1998. She had been employed with the Mohawk Valley Psychiatric Center, retiring in 1999. Jeannette had a strong faith in the Lord. She loved to take care of people and had a love of animals. Jeannette had been a member of the Senior Center on the Parkway. In her younger years, she was a bowler. She also enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and cooking. Jeannette is survived by four daughters, Karen Czerkies, Wampsville, Kristen Armstrong, New Hampshire, Sandra Czerkies, Boonville, Heidi Durdan, Clark Mills; one son and two daughters-in-law, James and Elisabeth Walker, Westmoreland, Victoria Czerkies, Tennessee; seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren, Nathaniel (and Elisa) Armstrong and their daughter, Sadie Armstrong, Erika (and Andrew) Dupont and their daughter, Ava Klair Dupont, Benjamin Owens, Kristofer Owens, Ryan Owens and his son, Declyn Owens, Jennifer Dennis, and Elizabeth Dennis; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Edward Kahler, Waterville, Raymond and Patricia Kahler, Oriskany, as well as by several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by one son, Robert Czerkies; a grandson, Eric Armstrong, two sisters, Nancy Passalaqua and Marie Wurth; and a son-in-law, Paul Durdan. Mrs. Walker's funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, April 11, 2014, at the Heintz Funeral Home, 1517 Whitesboro St., Utica. Interment will follow in Crown Hill Memorial Park, Kirkland. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the funeral home, Thursday evening, from 4 - 7 pm. Those wishing may donate to the Siegenthaler Center in Jeannette's memory.
