UTICA - ROCHESTER - Donald K. Bogan, 73, a resident of the Heritage Health Care Center in Utica, formerly of Rochester, passed away Thursday, March 20, 2014 at the nursing home. Donald was born April 9, 1940, in Utica, the son of Lawrence and Gertrude (Kommer) Bogan. He was raised and educated in Utica and after graduating high school went to the Holy Cross Brothers and was stationed in Rochester. He later left for Geneseo to become a monk. Around the age of 50, Donald left the order of the monks. He was then employed with Holy Cross Church in Rochester. On May 5, 1994, Donald married Joan Bimmick. Mrs. Bogan passed away in 2007. Donald was a member of Holy Cross Church. Donald is survived by three sisters and a brother-in-law, Rozann and Robert Hunsinger, CA, Nancy Bogan, Utica, Mary Lou Maier, Memphis, NY; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Lawrence Bogan, South Trenton, William Bogan, Utica, Gregory and Norma Jean Bogan, FL, Joanne Bogan, New York Mills, NY; as well as by several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by two brothers, Francis Bogan and Rev. Robert Bogan. A Memorial Mass for Mr. Bogan will be held on Saturday, April 12, 2014 at 1:00 pm at Holy Cross Church in Rochester. Interment will take place in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Rochester. Arrangements are entrusted to the Heintz Funeral Home, Utica, NY.
