Mrs. Elizabeth M. (Sears) Boyle, 80, a resident of the St. Luke's Home in New Hartford, formerly of Utica, passed away on Monday, March 24, 2014 at the nursing home. Elizabeth was born in Utica on January 23, 1934 (same date as Saint Maryanne Cope), the daughter of Charles J. and Ruth M. (Hill) Sears. She was raised locally and was a 1951 graduate of St. Francis de Sales High School. After graduation, Elizabeth went to work with NY Telephone Company until 1956. On September 8, 1956, at St. Francis de Sales Church in Utica, Elizabeth married John V. Boyle, Jr., a loving union of 46 years, until John's death in 2002. She was a devout parishioner of Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Utica and the Women's Club at the Church, the Mohawk Valley Christians Women's Club and enjoyed ice skating, tennis, walking and traveling. Mrs. Boyle is survived by two sons, John Boyle of Rome and Daniel Boyle of New Hartford; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Patricia and Donald McCabe of Liverpool and Rosemary Sears of New Hartford; one brother and two sisters-in-law, Charles W. and Barbara Sears of Greensboro, GA and Ann Rossi Boyle of Saratoga, NY as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins in Utica, Syracuse, Long Island, Atlanta GA and Richmond, VA. She was predeceased by a sister, Suzanne Sears. Mrs. Boyle's funeral will be held on Thursday, March 27, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Church where her Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated. Her Rite of Committal and burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in Yorkville, next her beloved husband, John.
