Jane Catherine Wengert, 97, formerly of Ney Ave., Utica, passed away Wednesday, March 5, 2014 at the Presbyterian Home for CNY, New Hartford. Jane was born in the Town of Harrisburg,, NY, daughter of the late Henry and Edith (Hanno) Boshart. She graduated from Lowville Free Academy and worked as an aide at Marcy State Hospital. On October 20, 1945, Jane married John H. Wengert. Mr. Wengert passed away in 1998. Jane also worked in the Food Services Department at Utica College from 1962 until her retirement in 1986. Mrs. Wengert was a member of Sacred Heart Church since the 1940's. She enjoyed participating in many different sports with her family, such as skiing, skating, hiking and camping in the Adirondacks. Jane is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Dick Duchesne, Albuquerque, NM; her daughter-in-law, Beth Wengert, Utica; three grandsons, Joshua Duchesne and his wife, Ginger, Albuquerque, NM, Joel Duchesne and his significant other, Jennah Orchell, Denver, CO, Bill Wengert and his wife, Jamie, Marcy; two great-grandchildren, Abrien Wengert and Henry Duchesne. Also surviving is one sister, Shirley Dening McGrath, Lowville; one brother and sister-in-law, Walt and June Wilczek, Yorkville; two Goddaughters, Sue Kiernan and Susan Wilczek Mitchum; as well as by many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her son, John (Pete) Wengert; a brother, Raymond Boshart; and three sisters, Margaret Henry, Vivian Kelley, and Anna Mae Strife. Mrs. Wengert's funeral will be held on Monday, March 10, 2014 at 11:00 am at Sacred Heart & St. Mary's Our Lady of Czestochowa Church, New York Mills, where her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will take place in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Whitestown. Family and friends are invited to call at the Heintz Funeral Home, 1517 Whitesboro St., Utica, on Sunday, from 4 - 7 pm. Those wishing may donate to the Stevens-Swan Humane Society in Jane's memory. The family would like to thank the staff of the Presbyterian Home for CNY for the loving care and kindness given to Jane during her stay.
