Mr. Virgil F. Anson, 86, a lifelong resident of Schuyler, passed away on Saturday, January 25, 2014 at the Mohawk Valley Healthcare in Ilion. Virgil was born in Westmoreland, NY on October 8, 1927 , the son of Lewis and Lillian Anson and received his education locally in Schuyler and Marcy Schools. On October 26, 1951, Virgil married Eleanor R. Derby at St. Joseph's Church in Utica, a loving union of 51 Years. For many years, he was a self employed truck driver. Mr. Anson is survived by a step-son, William J. Derby of Utica; a step-daughter and her husband, Johanna and Salvatore Carriero of Rome, NY; four step-grandchildren and six step-great grandchildren. Also surviving are his friends, the Anderson family and Wasyleski family and his closest friends, Anne Anderson and Gert Swisloski both of Schuyler. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Eleanor on March 20, 2003, two brothers and a sister. Mr. Anson's funeral will be held on Thursday, January 30, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Rd., N. Utica. A spring interment will be held in West Schuyler Cemetery. Calling hours for family and friends are Wednesday from 2:00-4:00 and 7:00-9:00. Those wishing to make a donation in Virgil's memory, please consider the Schuyler Volunteer Fire Department.
