Marie E. O'Toole, 89, of North Utica passed away on Tuesday, January 7, 2014 at Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare with her loving family by her side. Marie was born in Cooperstown, NY on January 13, 1924 a daughter of John and Frances (Stefanski) Potrikus. Marie married Thomas P. O'Toole on May 31, 1952 at St Mary's Church in Little Falls, NY. For over 20 years until her retirement in 1995 Marie was employed with the Utica Transit Authority. She was a member of St. Mark's Church, North Utica, American Legion Post #229 Ladies Aux., and the Knights of Columbus International Bowling Hall of Fame. Marie was an avid bowler and bingo player, and participated in pitch leagues at the American Legion and the Eagles Club. In her spare time, Marie enjoyed visiting the casino. Marie is survived by her husband, Tom, her two children and spouses, Stephen and Suzanne O'Toole, N. Utica and Patricia and James Staffo, N. Utica, 5 grandchildren, Jason O'Toole, Jennifer Blake and husband Andrew, Michael O'Toole, Cynthia Davis and companion Pat Mosher and Joel Davis and wife Billie Jo, and a sister and brother-in-law, Doris and Thomas Murphy, Little Falls. Marie is also survived by nine great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Marie was predeceased by 3 sisters, Agnes Smith, Anna Bayo and Frances Petkovsek and 2 brothers, John and Leo Potrikus. Mrs. O'Toole's funeral will be held on Saturday, January 11, 2014 at 9:15 from the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Rd., N. Utica and at 10:00 from St. Mark's Church, N. Utica. Burial will take place in St. Mary's Cemetery, Clinton. Calling hours at the funeral home are Friday evening from 4-7.
