Obituary of Joyce M. Mullin

Mrs. Joyce M. Mullin, 83, of New Hartford, passed away on Sunday, September 23, 2018 at the Hospice Siegenthaler Center in New Hartford with her loving family by her side.
Joyce was born in Utica on June 9, 1935, the daughter of Charles J. and Gertrude (Scully) McConeghy. She was raised and educated locally and was a 1953 graduate of Utica Catholic Academy. On June 20, 1959, Joyce was united in marriage with John F. Mullin at Sacred Heart Church in Utica. For many years, Joyce was employed with NY Telephone Company. She was a member of the Utica chapter of the Christ Child Society, and was a Eucharist Minister to the homebound. Joyce was also a parishioner of St. John The Evangelist Church in New Hartford; a former parishioner of Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Utica and her greatest joy was spending time with her cherished grandchildren.
Mrs. Mullin is survived by her loving husband John; five daughters and three sons-in-law, Anne Marie Mullin of Baldwinsville, NY, Cathleen and Ralph Van Houten of Rochester, NY, Susan and Matthew Gaynor of Lina, NY, Michele Dzula of Grand Island, NY and Jeanne and William Hamilton of Selkirk, NY; two sons and daughters-in-law, John P. and Jennifer Mullin of VA and Stephen and Nina Mullin of New Hartford; 12 cherished grandchildren, Greg Van Houten and his wife Sarah, Erik Van Houten, Meghan Van Houten, Jessica Ford and her fiancée Patrick Banach, Julia Ford, Kathryn Mullin, John Mullin, Fiona Gaynor, Maeve Gaynor, Abigeal Hamilton, Quinn Mullin, and Burke Mullin; two adored great grandchildren, Dahlia Banach and Amelia Banach; one sister and brother-in-law, Marilyn and James Miner of Whitesboro; one sister-in-law, Sandra McConeghy of N. Utica as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by a granddaughter, Sarah Hamilton and brother, Charles J. McConeghy, Jr.
Mrs. Mullin’s funeral will be held on Thursday, September 27, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at St. John The Evangelist Church in New Hartford, where her Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated. Her Rite of Committal and burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Clinton. Calling hours for family and friends are Wednesday from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the Heintz Funeral Home, 1517 Whitesboro St., Utica.
