Mrs. Laurel June Mootz, 86, of N. Utica, passed away on Tuesday, December 17, 2013 at her home with her loving family by her side. Laurel was born in Utica on May 24, 1927, the daughter of James and Helena (Edwards) Doyle. She was raised and educated in Utica and attended Utica Free Academy. On September 2, 1955, Laurel married William E. Mootz, Sr. in New Milford, PA, a blessed union of 35 years until William's death in 1990. A loving wife, mother and grandmother, Laurel devoted her life to the care of her family. She was the rock and true strength for her loved ones and her cherished children and grandchildren were the light of her life. Mrs. Mootz is survived by her daughter, Laurie Fernalld and her companion Greg Prior of New Hartford; four sons and daughters-in-law, James and Janice Mootz of Rochester, William Jr. and Patricia Mootz of N. Utica, Michael Mootz of N. Utica and Kenneth and Noreen Mootz of N. Utica as well as 12 adored grandchildren and several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her beloved brothers and sisters. Mrs. Mootz's funeral and burial will be held privately at the convenience of her family. There are no calling hours.
