Mrs. Alberta J. (Caras) Heath, 85, of NY Mills, passed away on Monday December 2, 2013 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Utica. Alberta was born June 23, 1928 a daughter of Duane and Estee Mae (Grower) Coffin. At one time, Alberta was married to Joseph Caras. She was later married to William Heath until his passing. She was employed with Frederick Corporation until her retirement. Alberta enjoyed knitting, crocheting and reading and she was of the Catholic Faith. Mrs. Heath is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Joseph and Lorrie Caras of Marcy; her grandchildren, Eric Caras and Kayla Caras; six step-children, James Heath of CA, Joyce Doolen of Frankfort, Judith Ballou of Clayville, Janet Doolen and her husband Patrick of Frankfort, Jennifer Wendell and her husband Roger of Sauquoit and Jacqueline Florentino and her husband Robert of Clayville; one sister, Jean Fassett of Whitesboro; three brothers and one sister-in-law, Sherwood Coffin and Helen Fizett of Oneida, Lambert and Geraldine Coffin of Antwerp, NY and Edison Coffin of Cassville. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews including an special niece Joan Smith as well as several step- grandchildren, step-great grandchildren, dear friends and her loyal canine companion, Precious. She was predeceased by her husbands, Joseph Caras and William Heath, infants sons, Joseph and Gerard, a son James Caras, sisters, Anna Dzwonkowski and Adeline Vanderworken and brothers, Duane Coffin and Douglas Coffin. Mrs. Heath's funeral service will be held on Friday, December 6, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. at the Heintz Funeral Home, 1517 Whitesboro St., Utica. Interment will be in Carr Cemetery in Marcy. Calling hours for family and friends are Friday from 1:00-3:00 prior to the funeral service. Those wishing to make a donation in Alberta's name, please do so to a charity of your choice.
