Mrs. Winifred DeShane, 90, of Schuyler passed away on Sunday, November 17, 2013 at Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare in New Hartford. Winifred was born in Tupper Lake, NY on October 25, 1923 a daughter of Louis and Lottie (Jarvis) Garrow. She was raised and educated in Tupper Lake and on December 7, 1941 was united in marriage to Louis R. DeShane. He passed away on October 3, 2007. For many years until her retirement in 1971 Winifred was employed with the General Electric Co. She was a member of St. Mark's Church, N. Utica. Winifred enjoyed knitting, crocheting, flower gardening, reading, doing puzzles and painting ceramic statues. Winifred is survived by her 7 children and spouses, Darlene and Bert DeSchene, FL, Gene Dechene, Clinton, Sharon and Art Garhart, TN, Cheryl Dinneen, Schuyler, John and Barb DeShane, Utica, Holly DeShane, Frankfort, and Robin and Joseph Nalaskowski, Herkimer, two brothers and sisters-in-law, Floyd Garrow, FL, Roy and Isabelle Garrow, Tupper Lake and Naomi Garrow, FL, and 20 grandchildren and spouses, 32 great grandchildren and 10 great great grandchildren. Winifred was predeceased by a sister, Clydia and brothers, Chester, Walter, and Edward. Mrs. DeShane's funeral will be held on Thursday, November 21, 2013 at 9:15 from the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Rd., N. Utica and at 10:00 from St. Mark's Church, N. Utica. Burial will take place in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Whitesboro. Calling hours at the funeral home are Wednesday (Today) from 4-7. Those so wishing may make donations to the Schuyler Volunteer Fire Department in Winifred's memory.
