Mrs. Helen M. Lebiednik, 89, a resident of the Presbyterian Residential Community in New Hartford, formerly of Lenox Ave., Utica, passed away on Thursday, November 7, 2013 at the Presbyterian Home for CNY. Helen was born in Utica on May 22, 1924 the daughter of Walter and Agata (Banach) Cieslak. She was raised locally and was a graduate of Utica Free Academy. On February 11, 1945, Helen married Alexander Edward Lebiednik at Holy Trinity Church in Utica, a devoted union of 53 years until Alexander's death in 2002. For many years, Helen was employed with Tolpa's Dairy in Utica until her retirement. In Helen's younger years, she was actively involved with the Mothers Club, as well as various other activities at St. Joseph's Church. She was a current parishioner of St. Joseph & St. Patrick Church in Utica. Helen enjoyed playing cards, crocheting afghans and will be remembered as a wonderful cook especially known for her famous golabki and cheese cake. Helen was happiest spending time with her grandchildren as their number one fan at their sporting events and school activities. Mrs. Lebiednik is survived by her two sons and daughters-in-law, Alan and Kathy Lebiednik of Southport, NC and David and Karen Lebiednik of Westmoreland; four cherished grandchildren, Brian Lebiednik and his wife Lauren, Nicole Lebiednik, Daniel Lebiednik and David Lebiednik; one brother and sister-in-law, Stanley and Helen Cieslak of Yorkville as well as four great grandsons and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son, Gary and several brothers and sisters. Mrs. Lebiednik's funeral will be held on Saturday, November 9, 2013 at 11:30 a.m. at St. Joseph & St. Patrick Church where her Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated. Her Rite of Committal and burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in Yorkville. Calling hours for family and friends are Saturday morning from 9:00-11:00 at the Heintz Funeral Home 1517 Whitesboro St., Utica prior to the funeral Mass. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Presbyterian Residential Community, 4300 Middle Settlement Rd., New Hartford, NY 13413 in Helen's memory.
