Obituary of Ann Sophiah Fischer

Mrs. Ann Sophiah Fischer, 67, of N. Utica, passed away on Saturday, October 19, 2013 at her home after a long and courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Her loving family was by her side at the time of her passing. Ann was born in Utica on July 19, 1946 the daughter of Benny and Sophiah (Van DeBogart) Orlowski, and received her education in Utica schools. On November 12, 1966, Ann married Gary A. Fischer at Moravian Church in New Hartford. at one time, Ann was employed with ConMed Corporation, later with Par-Technology, St. Regis Home Health Care and most recently with Utica Boilers until her retirement. She enjoyed music, camping in the Adirondacks, the Christmas holiday, her yearly trip to NY City with her dear friend, Joyce and she loved to go shopping. Ann was happiest when she was with her family and especially her grandchildren who were the light of her life. She was a member of First Assembly of God Church in Marcy. Mrs. Fischer is survived by her beloved husband, Gary; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Lori and Michael Williams of Deerfield, Debra Fischer and her best friend Richard Hammett of Rome, and Michelle and Chris DiBrango of N. Utica; two sons, Gary M. Fischer and Carrie Plunkett of N. Utica and Scott W. Fischer and Rita Goggin of Marcy; 11 cherished grandchildren, Valerie Paciello, Carla Fischer, Scottie Fischer, Zachary Fischer, Kristyna Fischer, Corina Williams, Brittney Hammett who was also her Goddaughter, Marcella Seaton, Kayla Piccione, Ciara DiBrango and Christopher DiBrango; two sisters, her twin, Marie Rooney and her husband Terrance of N. Utica and Blanche Stockton and her husband Reginald of N. Utica; one brother, Benny W. Orlowski and his wife Dolores of Frankfort as well as 3 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Calling hours for Ann's family and friends will be held on Tuesday, October 22, 2013 from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Rd., N. Utica. Her funeral and burial will be held at privately at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to a Humane Society of your choice in Ann's memory. Mrs. Fischer's family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the Staff of Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc., especially, Donna Ramsey, Julie McCallop and Ann Lindsey for the loving care and compassion you gave to Ann and her entire family. A special thank you to Eileen Small for the support and guidance you provided in helping us care for our mom.
