Mr. Stanley (Stash) Thomas Potter, 40, of Utica, was welcomed into Heaven by his loving mother Maureen, on Wednesday August 28, 2013 after a struggle with cancer. Stanley was born in New Hartford on May 11, 1973. He attended Kernan grade school and was a graduate of Waterville High School. Stash was an avid NY Yankees and Washington Redskins fan. Stanley is survived by his girlfriend, Michelle Coleman of Utica and her children; one sister and brother-in-law, Diane and Anthony Medici of Utica; one brother, Wayne Potter of Liverpool; his aunt, Nancy Stanburg of Ilion as well as nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends to numerous to mention. He was predeceased by his parents and grandparents. Memorial Visitation and a celebration of Stanley's life will be held on Sunday, September 1, 2013 from 4:00-6:30 p.m. at the Heintz Funeral Home, 1517 Whitesboro St., Utica. A prayer and time for reflection will be held at 6:30 at the conclusion of visitation. Burial in Forest Hill Cemetery in Utica will be held at the convenience of the family. Stanley's family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Stash's lifelong friend, Jerome Mathis and April Urban for the friendship you shared and the care and support you gave to Stash over the years and especially during his illness. Your kindness will never be forgotten.
