Mrs. Marilyn Jean Gregory, 76, of Vernon, NY and Florida, passed away on Tuesday, July 2, 2013 at the Katherine Luther Residential Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Clinton, NY. Marilyn was born on February 7, 1937 in Rome, NY, the daughter of Philip and Marjorie (Shaver) Mair. She was raised and educated in Clinton and was a graduate of Clinton high School. On October 18, 1958, Marilyn married Daniel E. Gregory, Sr. at the Church of The Annunciation in Clark Mills. At one time, Marilyn was employed as a hairdresser with Acee Beauty shop in Clinton. Marilyn enjoyed attending garage sales with her husband Daniel and dear friends, Emily and Martha, baking, sewing gifts for her loved ones, tending to her flower garden and vegetable garden as well as canning the fruits of her labors from her vegetable garden. In her younger years, she enjoyed camping and more recently spending her retirement years in Florida. Marilyn was always the first to assist others, usually putting their needs before her own. She will be remembered for her dedication and loving care she provided to her family, as a girl scout leader, den mother and most recently through her tireless involvement in her grandchildren's daily activities. She was a member of Holy Family Church in Vernon, NY. Mrs. Gregory is survived by her beloved husband, Daniel; her children and their spouses, Daniel Gregory, Jr., of Vernon, NY, Carrie and Patrick Capito of Perth, NY and Andrew Sr. and Charlene Gregory of Vernon, NY; six cherished grandchildren, Adam Trost , Christopher Gregory and Andrew Gregory, Jr., all of Vernon, NY and Ben Capito, Molly Capito and Julie Capito all of Perth, NY; a brother George Mair and Deb Wood of Clark Mills, NY; her aunt, Jean Beach of Ava, NY; cousins, Carol Hernandez and her husband Jorge of Clinton, NY and Karen Sonia and her husband Bob of Waterville, NY; sister-in-law, Mary Ann McMullen and her husband Gerald of Deansboro, NY as well as several nieces, nephews and her canine companion, Joey. A memorial service to celebrate Mrs. Gregory's life will be held on Friday, July 5, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. at the Heintz Funeral Home, 10. E. Park Row, Clinton. Interment will be held at the convenience of her family. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 5:00-7:00 p.m. prior to the funeral service.
