On Saturday, August 25, 2018, Barbara Jean (Joseph) Jaskolka, Yorkville, NY, loving wife and mother of two children, passed away at age 70. Barbara was born on January 17, 1948 in Rome, NY to George and Jean (Spinella) Joseph. She was a graduate of Rome Free Academy class of ’65. On May 27, 1972, she married Edward Jaskolka. They raised two sons, Scott and Matthew. Barbara worked as a Phlebotomist for twelve years at Marian Medical/St. Elizabeth’s Hospital. Barbara had a passion for cooking and baking for her family, especially her pizzelles at Christmas. She also enjoyed music, movies, knitting, gardening, and crafting. She especially loved to decorate for the holidays. Barb was known for her quick wit, sense of humor, and her kind and compassionate spirit. Barbara was preceded in death by her father, George A. Joseph Sr., and her brother George A. Joseph, Jr. Left to cherish her memory is her husband Edward Jaskolka; sons, Scott A. Jaskolka, Matthew G. Jaskolka, her beloved dog Yoshi, all of Yorkville; grandson, Alex Jaskolka of Bremerton, Washington; mother, Jean (Spinella) Joseph, Rome, NY; brothers, Anthony J. (Kathy) Joseph, Oswego, NY; Ronald C. Joseph, Rome, NY; sister–in-law Carol Blakiston, Scottsdale, Arizona; nephew, Joshua (Rose) Joseph; niece, Courtney E, Joseph, of Rome, NY; dear friend, Betty DiNardo of Yorkville; several cousins and many friends. In keeping with Barbara’s wishes, there are no calling hours. A private funeral service will be held at the convenience of her family.
