George Smolinsky, 89, of Marcy passed away on Saturday, May 18, 2013. George was born in Deerfield on April 3, 1924 a son of John and Anna Smolinsky. George served in the Army Air Corp during World War II. On May 14, 1950 he married Jean B. Williams. She passed away on April 14, 1969. On October 11, 1975 George married Vivian Van Etten. For many years until his retirement in 1989 he was employed with Utica Metal Products. He was a member of St.'s Peter & Paul Ukrainian Orthodox Church and American Legion Post #229. George was an avid gardener and enjoyed hunting , fishing and in his earlier years flying. George is survived by his wife, Vivian, his three children, William George and Gail Smolinsky, Deerfield, Terri Jean and Bernie Zygo, Williamson, NY, and Diane Sonya Smolinsky Fellone, Schuyler, and six stepchildren, Harold and Sandy Williams, Westmoreland, Joanne and Steve Roby, Marcy, Paul and Josephine Williams, TN, David and Cathy Williams, Marcy, Karen and Tom Poole, Hamilton, NY and Bonnie and Walter Burdick, Marcy. He is also survived by eighteen grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. George was predeceased by five brothers and two sisters. Mr. Smolinsky's funeral with Military Honors will be held on Wednesday, May 22, 2013 at 9:30 from the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Rd. N. Utica. Burial will be in Carr Cemetery, Marcy. Calling hours at the funeral home are Tuesday from 4 to 8.
