Deborah A. Taylor, 60, of Utica, passed away on Wednesday May 8, 2013 at Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare in New Hartford with her loving family by her side. Deborah was born in Utica, on February 11, 1953, the daughter of Edward M. and Estelle H. (Topor) Shannon. She was raised locally and was a graduate of St. Francis de Sales High School. Deborah continued her education at St. Elizabeth Hospital School of Nursing and earned her Bachelor's Degree in nursing from SUNYIT. For many years she was employed with Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare in New Hartford and most recently with Excellus Blue Cross Blue Shield in Utica. Deborah enjoyed boating on the St. Lawrence River and had a tremendous love of animals, especially her cat, Jack. She was of the Catholic Faith. Ms. Taylor is survived by two sons, David Taylor of Philadelphia, PA and Thomas Taylor of Utica; Her beloved companion, Jim Lesniak of Utica, as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Edward M. Shannon, Jr. and two sisters, Mary Elizabeth Emery and Kathleen Muraca. Ms. Taylor's funeral will be held on Friday evening May 10, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. at the Heintz Funeral Home, 1517 Whitesboro St., Utica. Interment will be held at the convenience of her family. Calling hours for family and friends are Friday evening from 4:00-7:00 prior to the service.
