Lorne H. Willis, Jr., 93, of New Hartford passed away on Sunday, April 21, 2013 at Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare. Lorne was born in Utica on September 28, 1919, son of Lorne H. and Irene M. (Touse) Willis Sr. He was a graduate of Whitesboro High School. In St. Joseph's Church, Utica on October 19, 1943, Lorne was united in marriage to Patricia J. Scheidelman, a blessed union of 70 years. Lorne proudly served his country in the Army Air Corps during World War II. During this time he was stationed in Italy for two years and had the Holy honor of Pope Pius XII blessing his wedding ring. Lorne was employed at Niagara Mohawk retiring in 1981. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Church, New Hartford and the 455th Bomb Group Association Inc. Lorne was a train enthusiast. Most important to Lorne was his family and he treasured the time he spent with them at home and the family camp. Lorne is survived by his wife, Patricia, a son and daughter-in-law, Reed and Karen Willis, New Hartford, three grandchildren, Alexandra Willis, New Hartford, Chadrick Willis and wife Lindsey Hill-Willis, Marcy and Trevor Willis, Holland Patent, three great grandchildren, Haley Hill-Willis, Dean Willis and Madelyn Willis. Lorne was predeceased by a son Dean in 2005 and a brother Neal Willis. Mr. Willis' funeral will be held on Thursday, April 25, 2013 at 12:15 from the Heintz Funeral Home, 1517 Whitesboro St., Utica and at 1:00 from St. John The Evangelist Church, New Hartford. Calling hours at the funeral home are Thursday morning from 10:00 - 12:00. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery, Clinton. Those so wishing may make donations in Lorne's memory to the Stevens-Swan Humane Society.
