Barbara Joan Organisciak, RN, 80, of Southside Rd. in Frankfort, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday April 18, 2013. Barbara was born in Utica on February 4, 1933, the daughter of Frank and Helen (Mathews) Organisciak. She was raised locally and attended Proctor High School, graduating with the class of 1951. After graduation, she joined the US Air Force, honorably serving her country from 1953-1956. During that time she earned a National Defense Service Medal. Barbara attended New York City Community College and Manhattan Community College and received her nursing degree in 1970. She returned home and worked and retired from Utica State Hospital after many years of dedicated employment. After retirement, she continued her profession in the private health care field, caring for many elderly people with her expertise and love. She took great pride in her profession. Barbara was very caring and devoted to her family. She will always be remembered for her yearly Christmas parties and her lovely crocheted items that she lovingly gave away. She loved to frequent the casino and made many friends throughout her life. Barbara will be sadly missed by her brother, Frank (Martha) Organisciak, Frankfort and nieces and nephews, Patricia (Gregory) Godfrey, Oneida, Joseph Organisciak, Utica, Sue Marie Zagorski, Rome, David (Arliss) Organisciak, Clinton, Mark Organisciak, Frankfort, Tracy (David) Facchini, New Hartford and Amy (Mark) Louer, Marcellus. She was predeceased by her brother and sister-in-law, Joseph and Jeanette Organisciak and a niece Sharon Giruzzi. In keeping with Barbara's wishes there are no calling hours. A memorial Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 23, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Historic Old St. John's Church, John St. in Utica. Rite of Committal and burial will be in Holy Trinity Cemetery in Yorkville at the convenience of the family. Arrangements have been entrusted to Heintz Funeral Service, Inc., N. Utica.
