Obituary of Doris A. Villeneuve

Doris A. Villeneuve, 85, a resident of the Masonic Care Community, and a lifetime resident of North Utica, passed away Thursday, April 18, 2013 at the nursing home with her daughters at her side. Doris was born in Utica on July 15, 1927, the daughter of George and Flora (Liebing) Trask. She was raised and educated locally, graduating from Utica schools. On August 30, 1947, Doris married Leon Villeneuve, and shared a union of 55 years, until his passing in 2002. She had worked in housekeeping for St. Elizabeth Medical Center and later at several motels in the Utica area. Doris had been a member of St. Peter's Church in North Utica and later attended Historic Old St. John's Church in Utica before becoming a resident of the Masonic Care Community. Doris enjoyed such hobbies as knitting, crocheting, and doing puzzles, but she truly loved spending time with her family. Doris is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Patti and James Nicholson, Utica, Debra and Jerry Falk, Ilion, Mary and John Scholl, Clinton; two sons and daughters-in-law, Gary and Diane Villeneuve, Altamont, NY, Steven and Patty Villeneuve, Virginia; as well as 16 cherished grandchildren and many great grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister, Lillian Thomas, Waterville and several nieces and nephews. Doris is predeceased by a sister, Evelyn Gifford and three brothers, Robert, Harry and Richard Trask. Mrs. Villeneuve's funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 20, 2013 at 11:00 am at the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Rd., North Utica. Interment will follow in New Forest Cemetery, Utica. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home, Saturday morning, from 9 - 11 am, prior to the funeral service. Those wishing may donate to the Alzheimer's Association in Doris' memory. The family offers their sincere thanks and gratitude to the nurses and staff of the Masonic Care Community, especially the Queens Unit, for the care and kindness shown to both Doris and her family during her stay.
