Rita B. Bridgett, 93, a resident of St. Joseph's Nursing Home in Utica, formerly of New Hartford, passed away Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at the nursing home. Rita was born October 27, 1919 in New Haven, CT, the daughter of Francis and Mary (Sullivan) Barry. She was raised and educated in CT. On July 17, 1943, Rita married Charles Bridgett at St. Joseph's Church in New Haven. Shortly after, the couple moved to New Hartford, NY. Mr. Bridgett passed away in 1999. For many years, Rita had been employed with Steinbach's Department Store, New Hartford. She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Church in New Hartford as well as their women's group. She was an avid NY Yankee fan, as well as a golf fan and former member of the Yahnundasis Golf Club. Rita is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, John and Kathy Bridgett, Rochester; a grandson and his wife, Michael and Alexis Bridgett, Duxbury, MA; a granddaughter, LT. Kelly (Bridgett) Cormack, USN and her husband, Jonathan Cormack, Washington DC; and three great grandchildren, Flynn, Avery and Colin Bridgett. Also surviving are Rita's good friends, Lovey, Margaret, Rita and Helen; as well as several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Bridgett's funeral will be held on Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at 11:30 am from the Heintz Funeral Home, 10 East Park Row, Clinton, and 12:00 pm at St. John the Evangelist Church, New Hartford, where her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will follow in Crown Hill Memorial Park, Clinton. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home, Tuesday morning, from 10:30 - 11:30 am, prior to the funeral.
