Roger H. Burritt, 87, of Schuyler passed away on March 5, 2013 at Faxton- St. Luke's Medical Center. Roger was born in Chadwicks, NY on June 30,1925, the son of Charles and Aletha (Greenman) Burritt. He was raised and educated locally and was a graduate of SUNY College of Technology at Utica. Roger later served in the Army Air Corp., during WWII. On September 14, 1969, at Christ the Community Church, Utica, he was married to Edna Brownlee. Roger worked as teacher at the Utica school of Beauty Culture for a period, and then as the owner-operator of the Ultra Beauty Salon, in S. Utica. He retired as a Social Worker from the Oneida Co. Dept. of Youth Services. Roger was a former member of Christ the Community Church, Utica, the Chadwicks American Legion Post # 1000, the Schuyler V.F.W., the NYS Teachers Association, and the NYS Cosmetology Association in Utica. Roger is survived by his wife, Edna; three daughters, Susan Gifford, Rome; Dorothy and her husband Thomas Lenahan, Schuyler; and Christine Welch, Beaver, PA., one son, Richard Costello, Syracuse, 8 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren. He also leaves a sister and brother in-law Carole and Edwin Healy, New Hartford, two brothers and a sister-in-law Gordon Burritt, Warren and Trudy Burritt,and two brothers in-law Thomas Lehner, and Richard Moore. Roger was predeceased by 3 sisters and a brother-in-law, Jean and Lloyd Perkins, Joyce Lehner and Linda Moore. Roger's family would like to express a heart- felt thank you to the staff at Faxton-St. Luke's for all their compassionate acre and kindness to Roger and the family. Mr. Burritt's funeral will be held Saturday, March 9, 2013 , at 11:00 a.m., at the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Rd., N.Utica. His burial in the spring will be at West Winfield Cemetery.
