Michael J. Luley, 28, of Whitesboro passed away on Saturday April 30, 2011. Michael was born in Binghamton, NY on August 16, 1982 to Elaine (Calhoun) Remmer and Robert L. Luley, Sr. He was raised and educated locally and was a 2000 graduate of Whitesboro High School. Michael served in the U.S. Air Force from 2001 to 2005. He was currently employed with Upstate Cerebral Palsy. Michael enjoyed writing poetry and participated in the Spoken Word at Utica College. He was also a music composer and an impressionist artist. Michael was an avid outdoorsman especially enjoying fishing and golf and basketball fan with Shaquille O'Neal being his favorite. Michael is survived by his mother, Elaine Remmer of Charlotte, NC, his father, Robert L. Luley and companion, Elizabeth VanDyk of Whitesboro, two brothers and a sister-in-law, Robert l. Luley, Jr., Charlotte, NC and Ryan M. and Andrea Luley, Miami, FL, paternal grandmother, Marian Luley, Whitesboro, maternal grandfather, Jack Calhoun, Winston-Salem, NC, two nephews and a niece, Matthew and Madison Luley, FL and Marcos Luley, NC, and several aunts, uncles, cousins and countless friends. Michael was predeceased by his paternal grandfather, Leo Luley, his maternal grandmother, Mary Godfrey, and a special uncle Edward Kennerknecht. A funeral service for Michael will be held on Wednesday evening at 8:00 from the Heintz Funeral Home, 1517 Whitesboro St., Utica. Calling hours at the funeral home are Wednesday from 4-8.
